After all that can be said
Gary Stephan | John Miller | Klaus Merkel

All Painting, all sculpture, all photography is theoretical, negotiating between sings and experiences. Some work drives toward the building blocks, other to the constructed image. The artist here understand this transit. Today the discourse is understood to be given, vital and assumed. So the interesting human question becomes: to what end. For the better part of this last century we watched artists walk closer and closer to the microphone and the pen, making the criteria for visual art ist resistance to language, ist positive proof, faded value. AFTER ALL THAT CAN BE SAID these artists are world builders, constructing places that ultimately are neither rescued nor shielded by language. Places not empirical dimension but the seamless smearing of senses and thoughts.
